Drinking Chocolate Recipe

Continuing with not being sleepy, I thought I'd share the drinking chocolate recipe (meant as a much cheaper replacement of Starbuck's $2.65 drink) that Jerry and I came up with after some trial and error.

Drinking Chocolate

  • 5 cups milk
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • 24 oz chocolate chips
  • 1 T vanilla extract

Heat milk/cream mixture until warm enough to melt chips (about 100 F). Stir in chocolate slowly over low heat. Add vanilla extract.

Don't drink too much of this at one time, though. Starbucks serves it in 6-ounce servings for more reasons than just profitting off a very over-priced drink. (The above recipe works out to just 16%, costwise, of what Starbucks sells it for.)
