Just got back from seeing Serenity with The Gang. I definitely liked it, although with what happened it in, any restarted TV series of Firefly would be markedly different. But I'd still want it back on, no question there. Anyone know if Joss Whedon is looking for Firefly to start back up?

I was crying more or less from the time Book died until the end of the movie. It's like Orson Scott Card, killing off people once they've done their plotly duty, but worse, since they really didn't have to die. Yeah, yeah, I know it's actually much more realistic that at least some of them don't make it through all of that, but I can still be sad. Heh, I'm a horrible movie reviewer; I care about the characters, and not quite so much about all the other technical aspects of movie-making. I'm still feeling sad about Book and Wash and Zoe. :P But River was damn cool, and at least Simon and Kaylee got together, even if Mal and Inara are still being mostly stupid. And getting the backstory on Reavers was very interesting, if unsettling.
If you haven't seen it yet, go! I don't care that it only opened today; only poor souls who were without sneak previews should have waited until today anyhow. Go convert the unenlightened masses of Firefly-ignorant!

Two shocking character events ... one I could see coming, but the other was out of the blue. I am sad.
An explanation for the Reavers ... *very* interesting.
I am suspicious that Joss Whedon is getting friendly with Orson Scott Card and George RR Martin. hmph. I disapprove.
